Five hospitalized after accident on SR 5 in Camilllus

Camillus (WSYR-TV) -- Five people were taken to the hospital after a crash on SR 5 east near the Hinsdale on-ramp in Camillus Friday night.

Police say the driver was trying to shift lanes, swerved and lost control. The car spun out of control and came to a rest sideways in a driving lane of the highway. The car was then struck broadside by a second vehicle.

A female passenger was seriously hurt in the crash and had to be extricated from the vehicle. There is no word yet on her condition.

Two men in the car and two women in the second car were also injured and transported to the hospital with less serious injuries, according to police.

No tickets have been issued, but police are asking anyone who may have witnessed accident to call them at 487-0102.
