Cleveland (WSYR-TV) – A former NewsChannel 9 reporter has passed away, according to
WEWS NewsChannel5 in Cleveland.
Tony Gaskins worked as a general assignment reporter at NewsChannel 9 – then WIXT – for several years in the mid to late 1980s.
Previously, Gaskins worked for WSYR radio.
Gaskins worked at NewsChannel 9 for several years in the mid to late 80s.
Veteran NewsChannel 9 photographer Eddie Jones fondly recalled his friend.
“He was a very great guy. He had a special, deep voice,” Jones said.
According to WEWS, he passed away after an apparent heart attack at the age of 56.
Gaskins spent 18 years of his career as a reporter at WEWS before moving on to a position in Cleveland City Hall.
