ROME, NY (WSYR-TV) - Retired Rome Police Chief Joseph Grande has died at the age of 87.
 
The Rome Police Department issued a press release on Saturday evening:
 
“It is with deep regret that the Rome Police Department announces the passing of retired Police Chief Joseph G. Grande. Chief Grande joined the Rome Police Department in 1948. Throughout his career, Grande received promotions to the rank of detective and then in 1974, to chief. Grande served as chief until his retirement in 1987. “
 
The release did not state the cause of Grande’s death.
 
The funeral service for Grande is Monday, November 19th. at 12:45 pm at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 West Chestnut Street in Rome and at St. Pauls Church at 1:30 pm
