Manlius (WSYR-TV) – A former Fayetteville-Manlius football star has been named as the program’s head coach.

Former Hornets great and Syracuse University football player Damien Rhodes has been named head coach at F-M.

12-year veteran coach Paul Muench stepped down in November.

In addition to his scholastic and collegiate career, Rhodes played briefly for the Houston Texans and then also for the Berlin Thunder in NFL-Europe.

At F-M, Rhodes was selected for Central New York Player of the Year honors and was also a First Team Class AA All-State selection.

He has been an assistant coach at F-M since 2008 and the team's defensive coordinator since 2010.
