Fulton (WSYR-TV) – Fulton Police arrested a 20-year-old man on charges that he seriously injured an infant in his care.

According to police, Carl James Kaufmann III, of Erie Street in Fulton, became frustrated while changing the 4-month-old infant’s diaper and squeezed the child’s leg, causing the femur to fracture.

Police began investigating after the child had been taken to Oswego Health Urgent Care late Monday night.

Kaufmann was charged with assault, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned in Fulton City Court and taken to the Oswego County Public Safety Center in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.

The infant was taken to Upstate University Hospital via ambulance.
