Bridgeport (WSYR-TV) -- The Bridgeport community took to the dance floor to help a local family Friday night.
Seven-year-old Will Clark has a degenerative neurological disease and doctors are having a hard time diagnosing it. And because his condition is worsening, the Clarks need an addition on their home in order to care for him.
That’s why dozens gathered at a Zumba fundraiser to help his family afford a new addition to his house. They’re trying to raise $15,000 for the family and friends were quick to get involved.
“It’s just been overwhelming. The love and respect and care that this community has for the Clark family is just wonderful. And the Clark family, they're just so appreciative...I remember the first time I met Karen Clark, she just gave me a big bear hug and I was in,” said co-organizer Mary Ruthven.
“I hope that if there's anything that has happened from this it's to teach all of us to look to our neighbor, to look to that person next to you, people you don't know or that you'll never see again and offer that up,” said Will’s mom Karen Clark.
The new room would help Will get therapy from the comfort of his own home.
