SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - Helping Hounds Dog Rescue said it was back on solid financial ground on Sunday.

About two weeks ago, Helping Hounds told NewsChannel 9 that it may be forced to close in 2013, due to a decline in donations and a decrease in adoptions.

Since then, many of you have stepped up to help, keeping Helping Hounds open. It is already planning new programs for 2013.

"We have just been so blessed and so humbled by the outreach of the community. When they heard our plight, they definitely responded in overwhelming measures,” said Kathy Gilmour with Helping Hounds.

Helping Hounds still needs donations of everything from money, to dog food and office supplies to help ensure its doors stay open well into the future, to provide an alternative to euthanasia and high kill shelters.
