Holiday crackdown on texting and driving
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that police in New York will be cracking down on texting while driving over the holiday.
Cuomo says New York State Police will be using unmarked patrol cars to catch people texting behind the wheel.
The announcement comes after Cuomo signed a bill creating tougher penalties for distracted driving, including adding more points on a driver’s license and license suspensions for young drivers.
Cuomo also says DWI checkpoints will be happening across the state this holiday weekend.
