Canastota (WSYR-TV) -- An emotional homecoming is planned for 12-year-old Emily Simmons who was severely injured in a car accident last spring. On Wednesday, she’ll be coming home from rehab in Albany.

And an entire community is planning to support her. Simmons will get to ride home in a limosine, while friends and family plan to line up along Peterboro Street at 5 p.m. for her arrival home.

If you plan on attending the homecoming, you’re asked to wear Simmons’ favorite color: purple. Emily was in a coma for several weeks following the crash, but doctors say she has made amazing progress.

A benefit is also planned for October. To learn more, CLICK HERE.
