CORNING, N.Y. (AP) - An explosion and fire have destroyed a home in New York's Finger Lakes region, injuring two men.

Steuben County Emergency Services Acting Director James Marshall says it isn't clear if the fire or explosion happened first at the house near Corning's downtown. It was reported just after 11 a.m.

The Corning Leader reports the explosion heavily damaged a neighboring home and blew out windows for blocks around. The newspaper says two men were pulled from the wreckage, burned and bleeding but able to walk. They were believed to be the only people in the house.

City police and fire officials say crews are still on the scene and no other information is initially available.

Corning is 76 miles south of Rochester.
