I-81 re-opened in both directions after shutdown caused by multiple accidents

Tully (WSYR-TV) – I-81 has been re-opened in both directions after approximately seven accidents involving approximately 20 vehicles shut down the stretch between LaFayette and Tully on Friday.

The highway was shut down around 10:30 a.m. at exit 14 northbound and exit 15 southbound.

At least three ambulances were dispatched to the scene, but State Police Cpt. Jeff Raub said they do not believe there were any serious injuries.

Police have not identified the cause or causes.

Heavy snow rolled through the area around the time of the accidents.
