Ithaca (WSYR-TV) - A 20-year old man was airlifted to a regional trauma center after jumping 50-feet into water where swimming is not permitted.

Rescue crews were called to Six Mile Creek in Ithaca, just after 2:00 p.m. Saturday.

Emergency workers say the man has a head injury.  His condition as of Sunday morning was unclear.

The case has spurred warnings from emergency workers, who are urging people to stick to designated swimming areas as they try to cool off.
