Liverpool (WSYR-TV) -- It’s the first of its kind in New York State and you can find it in Liverpool. A new e-book library allows you to get books on your cell phone, iPad and e-readers for free through an app called the 3M Cloud Library.
For Sandra Miranda and her family, being able to get different books every week is important.
“I read pretty often, almost every night. I read to my kids every night,” Miranda told NewsChannel 9.
With the 3M Cloud Library app, Sandra can get books on her e-reader and cell phone, even when she can’t make a trip to the library.
The system gives Liverpool Library card holders access to e-books of all kinds, allowing for immediate access to them on their devices like the iPhone, Android, iPad, Kindle and Nook – free of charge.
Accessing the library cloud system is as easy as going to the app store on your device and downloading the 3M Cloud Library app. Once you do, in just a matter of seconds you have access to more than 400 books.
Liverpool Librarian Jennifer Husenitza says, “With a few clicks you can see what books are available…you can download them and they’re instantly available for reading…instantly.”
And, you can do it anywhere, whether in the library or no, with or without your device there.
“I can see I just downloaded "To Heaven and Back"...I just did and here it is on my bookshelf,” Husenitza said as she demonstrated how the app works.
Once a book is downloaded and checked out, it’s available for reading for a couple of weeks and then it’s automatically returned to the Cloud system, which also means no more late fees.
As long as you have a Liverpool Library card you can access the Cloud Library system for free. And even if you don’t live in Liverpool, you can still get a card from their library.
