Madison County man accused of trying to murder his father with pepper spray, baseball bat
Eaton (WSYR-TV) – A town of Eaton man has been charged with attempted murder after police say he beat his father with a baseball bat and sprayed his face with pepper spray.
According to police, a verbal argument between 20-year-old Vincent Stile of Route 26 in the town Eaton and his father escalated on Tuesday.
They say the 20-year-old man went to his bedroom and became upset before going back to the couch his father was laying on downstairs.
They say he then sprayed 59-year-old Anthony Stile in the face with pepper spray and then struck him at least 15 times in the head and body with the bat.
The man was taken to Upstate University Hospital where he is listed in critical condition with multiple skull fractures.
Vincent Stile has been charged with attempted murder in the second degree and assault in the first degree, both felonies; as well as criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor.
He was arraigned in Town of Eaton Court and taken to the Madison County Jail in lieu of $500,000 cash bail or $1 million bond.
