Man accused of stealing model cement to get high
Utica (WSYR-TV) -- A man who allegedly stole model cement from a Hobby Lobby location on Commercial Drive was caught inhaling the fumes to get high, New Hartford Police said Tuesday.
On Monday, police say 52-year-old Matthew J. Hamilton was seen stealing the model cement from the store. Police were subsequently called to the scene and later found Hamilton in a nearby parking lot where they say he had emptied five tubes of Testors model cement into a plastic cup and was inhaling the fumes to get high.
Hamilton has been arrested for petit larceny and inhalation of certain toxic vapors or fumes in order to become intoxicated – a violation of the NY State Public Health Law.
Hamilton was taken to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond.
