Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse Police have arrested a man they say stabbed two dogs overnight in the 200 block of Ash Street.

Officers responding to a “possible disturbance” call found 53-year-old Francis Mason standing in front of his residence at 205 Ash Street covered in blood.

An investigation revealed that Mason had stabbed his two pit bulls after an incident in which they attacked another dog.

One of the dogs died as a result of its injuries, the other was taken to the Veterinary Medical Center with serious injuries. That dog is expected to survive and is in stable condition at this time, according to police.

Mason has been charged with two counts of felony aggravated animal cruelty.
