Man facing charges after women’s room altercation

Utica (WSYR-TV) – A South Carolina man has been arrested after an incident in a women’s restroom in the Oneida County Office Building on Friday.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office began investigating the incident after deputies saw an upset 18-year-old woman in the building in Utica.

According Sheriff’s Investigators, 20-year-old Kaylon Pruitt entered the restroom and seized the woman when she tried to leave a bathroom stall. They say he told her not to yell, but when she began screaming, he ran off.

Investigators used surveillance video and help from Oneida County Social Services employees to identify Pruitt. They arrested him at the Rescue Mission in Utica.

They charged him with:

  • Unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, a misdemeanor
  • Criminal trespass in the third degree, a misdemeanor
  • Menacing in the third degree, a misdemeanor
  • Harassment in the second degree, a violation

He was arraigned in City of Utica Court and taken to jail in lieu of $3,500 cash bail or bond.
