Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A man who followed a woman home from grocery shopping and rubbed up against her while she tried to unload her car pleaded guilty on Wednesday.

Gregory Gottfried, 22, will spend no more than 10 years on probation after pleading guilty to sex abuse. He will also need to register as a sex offender.

Initially, police believed Gottfried may have been trying to push the woman into her trunk after she returned home from the DeWitt Wegmans location. When he touched her, Gottfried’s victim screamed and swung at him.

Following the Wednesday guilty plea, Onondaga County Assistant District Attorney Rick Trunfio said that while Gottfried grabbed his victim forcefully, there was no evidence that he tried to kidnap her.
