MARTIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a Central New York snowmobile drag racer was killed in a crash at western Michigan's US 131 Motorsports Park.

22-year-old Dan Cerio of Manlius was killed Saturday night at the track in Allegan County's Martin Township. It's about 30 miles south of Grand Rapids.

Track general manager Jason Peterson says Cerio hit the guard wall at the completion of his run during eliminations.

Cerio was participating in the Aeroquip Outlaw Sled Series. It has modified snowmobiles drag racing side-by-side on asphalt.

The sheriff's department tells Mlive.com that Cerio was driving about 170 miles per hour when his snowmobile hit one retaining wall and ricocheted to the opposite wall, ejecting him from the vehicle.
