North Syracuse (WSYR-TV) People were encouraged to bring old and unused medications to Kinney Drugs on West Taft Road in North Syracuse today.
Customers could drop off prescription medications, ointments, sprays and inhalers, creams, and pet medications, and were ensured that the pharmacy would properly dispose of them. If medicines are returned to Kinney, it lowers the risk of abuse, reduces the exposure to children and animals, and can help lessen the presence of pharmaceuticals in soil and water supplies when they are flushed or thrown away.
Attendees are asked not to bring needles, biohazardous materials or personal care products.
The event, sponsored by the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department, goes until 6pm.
