Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - David Renz, the man charged with kidnapping, rape and murder following a kidnapping last week will not appear in court Wednesday as planned. His case has been sent to an Onondaga County grand jury.

Moving a case like this to a grand jury is not unusual.

Renz is accused of kidnapping Lori Bresnahan and a child from the Great Northern Mall, and later stabbing Bresnahan to death.

Renz was on pre-trial release on federal child pornography charges, but was able to remove his GPS monitoring ankle bracelet and leave his house without probation officers being aware of what he was doing.

The chief probation officer tells us that they are now reviewing the probation process, and the equipment.
