ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York state police say one of their troopers has been charged with driving a snowmobile drunk after his sled got stuck in a snow-filled Adirondack ditch.

Troopers say that a report of a possible snowmobile accident in the town of Indian Lake led investigators to the snowmobile stuck in a ditch near Route 30 at about 10 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police say Wednesday the sled was owned and operated by 31-year-old off-duty trooper Randy Weaver, who's assigned to Indian Lake.

They say Weaver appeared intoxicated, was given field sobriety tests and was arrested for operating the snowmobile under the influence of alcohol.

He was suspended without pay and is scheduled to be in Indian Lake Town Court on Jan. 8. A phone number could not be found for Weaver.
