Snow buries Central New York 12-27-2012
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse was the focal point for a major network’s coverage of a severe winter storm that swept into the northeast on Thursday.
Good Morning America’s crews battled the storm to travel to Central New York on Thursday morning.
ABC News correspondent John Schriffen spent much of the morning outside the Parkview Hotel at Forman Park talking about the snowstorm and flight cancelations across the country. He told NewsChannel 9 that trip that should have taken four and a half hours, ended up taking eight hours.
"I've been to Western New York but I've never been to Syracuse, this is my first time being here and I'm told the people here really know how to deal with the snow, and that's what we've seen people taking their time and staying in the correct lanes on the roads,” Schriffen said.
Syracuse accumulated an overnight snowfall in double digits for the first time since 2010.
