Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - National Grid tells NewsChannel 9 that extra crews worked to restore power to about 35,000 customers throughout Central New York this weekend.
At the height of Friday night's storm about 75,000 customers in upstate New York lost power.
About 35,000 of those without power were in Central New York. The hardest hit areas were in northern New York and Oswego County.
As of Sunday at 2:30 p.m., most of the power is turned back on.
“This was a fast moving, but very severe storm that came with extremely high winds and caused extensive damage to our electric system,” said Ken Daly, National Grid President, New York State. “We remain in close contact with local emergency response teams and local officials as we move from damage assessment to restoration efforts today.”
