Syracuse, NY (WSYR-TV)  - There was a very special guest at Saturday night's hockey game between the Syracuse Crunch and the St. John's IceCaps.

NewsChannel 9's Christie Casciano dropped the first puck at the game.

She also received a proclamation from Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney naming December 29th, 2012 as Christie Casciano Day.

The proclamation honors Christie's service as a reporter, author, volunteer and dedicated mother.

The Crunch lost the game 5-4 in overtime.

At the game, Christie also signed copies of her new book, The Puck Hog 2.
