North Syracuse sex offender sentenced to 20 years in burglary, assault case
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A registered sex offender who brutally beat a 12-year-old boy in Mattydale was sentenced on Monday.
35-year-old Scott Miles of Whilshire Drive in North Syracuse will spend 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to burglary.
The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office said that Miles may have been looking for the boy’s mother when he encountered his victim in the bedroom. Miles severely beat the boy, who then fled to a neighbor’s house.
They said the victim recognized his assailant when his mother was chatting with him on Facebook.
Miles has already seen prison time. He has past convictions involving sex crimes with underage girls.
