Onondaga County Sheriff's Sergeant hurt in crash

SALINA, NY (WSYR-TV) - The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office says a police sergeant was sent to the hospital after a crash late Friday night.

They tell us Sergeant Sharon McDonald was crossing Route 11 at the South Bay Road intersection when a driver ran a red light and collided with the officer's patrol car.

McDonald was taken to the hospital with leg and hand injuries, but is expected to be okay.

The driver, 22-year old Eric Horvitz of Washington State was ticketed for running a red light.

The investigation in ongoing.
