Oswego County woman accused of choking 93-year-old mother

Scriba (WSYR-TV) – An Oswego County woman was arrested on Thursday after police say she choked her elderly mother.

According to State Police, Patricia Hanifan, 53, of Scriba, was involved in a domestic dispute with her 93-year-old mother when she placed her hands on the victim’s neck from behind and applied pressure. They also say she struck the victim in the ear.

Police charged Hanifan with criminal obstruction of breathing, a misdemeanor. She was arraigned in Town of Scriba Court and taken to the Oswego County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail. She is scheduled to return to court on May 10.

Hanifan’s elderly mother was placed in safe living arrangements.
