Our Lady of Pompei marks Election Day with traditional spaghetti supper
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Our Lady of Pompei Church maintained a North Side tradition that has lasted more than 60 years when it hosted Election Day with a spaghetti and meatball supper on Tuesday.
For 63 years, candidates and voters have been heading to the church on McBride Street to cast their ballots and eat.
Volunteers began serving hundreds of pounds of homemade pasta and 6,000 meatballs shortly before noon on Tuesday.
The volunteers will be dishing out dinner for voters until 7 p.m.
Proceeds from the event support the church as well as Cathedral Academy at Pompei.
