Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A Phoenix man could spend the rest of his life behind bars after admitting that he murdered his sister-in-law in her town of Geddes home.
Larry Frank, 50, was indicted on two counts of murder in the first degree and murder in the second degree, along with one count of robbery in the first degree.
He pleaded guilty to murder in the second degree and will be sentenced to 25 years to life in prison on April 26.
The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office said that Frank admitted to the killing of Patricia Grysczka shortly after police caught up with him after he fled to Pennsylvania.
Police in Lawrence Township in Pennsylvania arrested Frank on a warrant out of Onondaga County after he used a credit card at a local Walmart.
Earlier in the day, they responded to a call from Webb Road at around 4 a.m. and found household items.
After an intensive search, they found the body of 53-year-old Gryczka.
They said her injuries were consistent with those of strangulation and asphyxiation.
They believe that the struggle began as a dispute between Frank and Gryczka in the woman's town of Geddes home on Leslee Terrace.
Deputies then went to Gryczka’s house, which they discovered had been burglarized. Some of the items taken from the home had been found at the scene on Webb Road.
When they began visiting her family members, Phoenix Police discovered the suspect, who is the victim’s brother-in-law. According to police, Frank was sitting in his own car at the Phoenix residence. The victim’s car would later be discovered on West Onondaga Street near Velasko Road.
At that point, they say Frank drove off, leading police on a high-speed chase south on I-481 until he lost them at Route 31.
They say Frank then continued south until he reached Pennsylvania, where he was arrested around 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
Sheriff’s Deputies were already following up on a tip that he had used a credit card in the Elmira and Ithaca area when they were notified that Frank had been arrested.
Police discovered a handgun in the car he was driving.
