Police: Incident involving man in a van with balloons just a “misunderstanding”

Elbridge (WSYR-TV) -- StatePolice say a suspicious incident involving a man in a van who approached some kids waiting for the school bus in the town of Elbridge last month was just a “misunderstanding.”

Apparently, the man -- and a woman who was seen in the van -- had just started a new business. Police say the couple had a bunch of balloons left from their opening celebration and thought it would be nice to give them out to area children.

State Police spokesperson Jack Keller says the two got nervous and took off when the parents attempted to confront them.
