Police: Man poses as physician to get drugs

Baldwinsville (WSYR-TV) – Police say an Onondaga County man who posed as a physician and tried ordering prescriptions for himself and an acquaintance from local pharmacies, has been arrested and charged.

41 year-old Joseph Tomanelli of Baldwinsville was arrested Friday and charged with five counts of Criminal Impersonation and five counts of Falsifying Business Records.

Police say during September and October, Tomanelli, contacted area pharmacies pretending to be a physician and ordered prescriptions for himself and an acquaintance.

He then picked up the prescriptions for his personal use.
 
Tomanelli was arraigned at Salina Town Court and sent to the Onondaga County Justice Center.
