Police chief: Pulaski could move to abolish police department
Pulaski (WSYR-TV) – A northern Oswego County village could move toward abolishing its small police department, according to its police chief.
Police Chief Ellery Terpening told NewsChannel 9 that the village board discussed shutting down the department on Monday night while developing its budget.
According to the police chief, Mayor Karl Hax informed him of the village’s plan on Tuesday.
The Pulaski Police Department consists of one full-time position – Terpening’s – and nine part timers. The department’s annual budget is approximately $200,000 per year.
