Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - An 18-year old Syracuse man fell from his bike and hit the ground after shots rang out early Saturday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the area of S. State and Burt Streets at 3:05 a.m.

Investigators believe Jason Willis of Syracuse was riding his bicycle with a group of males when gunshots were fired from a passing vehicle.

Willis was transported to Upstate University hospital, but did not survive.

Several witnesses were interviewed by detectives, though no suspect information was released.

The Syracuse Police Crime Scene Unit spent hours collecting evidence along the 1200 block of S. State Street.

Police are still investigating and request calls at 315-442-5222 from anyone who has information about the shooting.
