Police identify victim in downtown stabbing

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse Police say the man who was stabbed multiple times Friday afternoon is in critical condition.

They've identified him as 27-year old Larry McCraney of Syracuse.

Investigators say he was stabbed at the intersection of East Fayette and South Salina Streets by three to four black men in their 20's.  All were wearing baseball caps.

McCraney was taken to Upstate Hospital in extremely critical condition, where he underwent emergency surgery.

Police want to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or may have cell phone video of the attack.

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Police have shut down the intersection of East Fayette and South Salina streets in Downtown Syracuse after a reported stabbing. The victim was transported from the scene in "extremely critical condition."

Police say the victim was taken to Upstate University Hospital for emergency surgery.

Police say the victim was attacked by a group of men who left the scene in a vehicle. They do not know the circumstances that led to the incident.

Witnesses told police that a person or persons may have been recording the incident on their cell phones.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or the alleged taping of the incident is asked to call police at 442-5222.

The victim's identity has not been released.
