Cicero (WSYR-TV) – Police say they get a lot of calls about door-to-door meat salesmen. But, one case in particular has prompted a police investigation in Cicero.
Police say the salesman has repeatedly sold meat to an elderly man who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and doesn't remember buying the meat.
Police began investigating after getting a call from the man's son.
“Selling him $500 worth of meat, $1,000 worth of meat and just filling his freezer over and over again, which he’s not using and hasn’t used,” said Cicero Police Investigator James Meyers.
Meyers says they’re very early into their investigation, but they want to warn people to be cautious, especially if they have elderly parents.
Solicitors are required to have a permit in Cicero. If you ever have a question, police encourage you to give them a call.
