Police investigating two-vehicle crash on Route 81 southbound in Syracuse
SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash on Route 81 southbound where one of the vehicles hit a guard rail and rolled over.
It happened about 11:15 a.m. just north of the Hiawatha Boulevard overpass.
Police said two cars were traveling on Route 81 south when one of the drivers changed lanes and hit the other car.
Both drivers lost control and hit the guard rail on the west side of the highway.
The car that changed lanes ended up rolling onto its roof. When officers arrived, it was found between Route 81 south and the exit ramp access road to Bear Street.
The 28-year-old male driver had minor injuries and was taken to Upstate University Hospital as a precaution.
The 64-year-old female driver and the 70-year-old male passenger of the other car were not injured.
The right lane of the highway from the City of Syracuse line to the Hiawatha Boulevard overpass was temporarily closed while police cleared the vehicles from the scene.
The investigation is ongoing. No tickets have been issued.
