Clay (WSYR-TV) -- Police swarmed Verplank Road near the Great Northern Mall on Monday after 47-year-old Lori Bresnahan was killed there Thursday night
State Police can’t tell us what they’re looking for because it’s part of an ongoing investigation, but dozens of officers have been coming through a wooded area.
It’s been a massive, methodical search as officers walked side by side looking everywhere for clues to help them piece together the case.
Investigators say the murder suspect – David Renz – drove the victim’s car to Verplank Road, after abducting her and a 10-year-old child from the parking lot of Great Northern Mall.
Police believe part of the assault happened in a deserted area of the mall parking lot, but say Bresnahan was stabbed on Verplank Road. The little girl managed to escape and get help. Minutes later, police say they caught up with Renz, who was running away through the woods on Verplank Road.
Renz is charged with kidnapping, rape and murder. He’s being held without bail.
