Priest killer pleads guilty to murdering wife
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A man who served time behind bars for killing a priest in the 1960s will return to state prison after admitting that he murdered his wife in their Village Green apartment.
Robert Burger, 68, pleaded guilty to second degree murder on Monday morning.
He will spend 20 years to life in prison for killing Rebecca Dethlefs during the holidays last year.
Her body was discovered by a maintenance worker in the town of Van Buren apartment complex and the Sheriff’s Office caught up with Burger in Middletown, NY.
Burger was already on lifetime parole for killing a priest in 1964.
