Rochester boy dies after falling into pond

Rochester, NY - (WHAM-TV) -  An 11-year-old Rochester boy pulled from a pond on Wednesday night died this morning.  His name has not been released.

Police say the child fell into the frigid water around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday night.  Two other boys tried to save him.  

The pond is in the middle of a construction site near an apartment complex off Westfall Road, Rochester.

Rescue crews found the boy in about 10 feet of water after a frantic hour of searching, first by the boys with neighbors help, then by police, firefighters and a scuba team.

The boy was pulled from the water around 8:30 p.m., rescue crews worked to resuscitate him.  They gave the boy CPR immediately and took him to the hospital  The two other children who were with the boy were also taken to the hospital as a precaution.
