Route 5 open after dump-truck spill

Camillus (WSYR-TV) – A heavily traveled road was shut down in Camillus after a dump truck spilled a significant amount of dirt on Wednesday.

Route 5 Westbound was closed near Newport Road.

Police said a one-inch thick layer of debris on the road created hazardous conditions and led to one accident in which a person sustained injuries that they did not believe were life threatening.

Police ticketed the dump truck driver for failing to secure the load.
