SU: James Southerland out 'due to eligibility matter'
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - The Syracuse University athletics department announced on Saturday morning that James Southerland is out until further notice "due to an eligibility matter."
The school declined to elaborate on the nature of the "eligibility matter."
The senior forward is averaging 13.6 points per game for the Orange.
SU, ranked No. 7 in both major polls, is hosting Big East Conference rival Villanova at the Carrier Dome today.
SU is 15-1 on the season, while the Wildcats are 11-4.
