Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - A new study in a medical journal says that a sitting test you can do at home can tell you how long you'll live.

The study was published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology.

You can read more about it here.

The test involves sitting down on the floor, and then seeing how easily you can get up using the least amount of support from other parts of your body.

Those who needed to use their hands, feet, knees or other body parts the least lived longer.

How to score the test:

5 points if you can sit down without touching your knees, legs, hands, or arms on the floor.

5 points if you can get back up without any aid from other body parts.

-1 point for each body part that touches the floor when sitting down or getting up.

-0.5 point if you are "wobbly" when sitting down or getting up.

"People who scored zero to three were 6.5 times as likely to die during the course of the study, compared to people who scored from 8 to 10. Those who had scores of 3.5 to 5.5 were 3.8 times as likely to die as the high scorers -- and those who scored 6 to 7.4 range were 1.8 times more likely to die than those with the highest scores," the Vitals health blog reported.

Carrie Lazarus demonstrates how to take the test on her Facebook page.
