Photos from the Scene: Gunman barricaded inside Solvay residence

Solvay (WSYR-TV) - A Solvay school official now says all students have been dismissed as police continue to maintain a perimeter around a nearby residence occupied by a gunman.

The Solvay Public Library has also closed for the evening.

None of the students who live in the Conklin Street area are being permitted to leave.

The official said the children are safe. A food services employee was called in to feed the children.

The school was placed on lockdown when Solvay Police responded to a Conklin Street residence they believe is occupied by Joseph Schell, a man suspected in a domestic incident involving his ex-girlfriend in Camillus.

Police say a gunman fired multiple shots at them from the residence.

Residents who are within the area of the incident on Conklin Street have not been allowed to leave. Those who live in the area, but were not home when the incident began, have not yet been permitted to return.
