Some light snow this evening

A large complex of low pressure, with one area over the Great Lakes, and another over the mid Atlantic states, will slide eastward over us early tonight.  Fortunately for us, the majority of the precipitation with this system is tied to the southern low, and will miss us to our south.  As we deal with the weak area of low pressure over the Great Lakes tonight, an area of very light snow and flurries is expected across CNY, especially early tonight.

It looks like we’ll be hard-pressed to get much more than flurries around here Saturday.  There is a possibility of some lighter snow for awhile later Saturday as a disturbance in the jet stream moves overhead.  This should not be a big snow maker however as moisture amounts are forecast to be pretty measly over us.  Temperatures will only be around 20 degrees, with a bit of a northwest breeze.  All in all, we don’t foresee any major weather issues around here Saturday.

Skies will clear out Saturday night, with the approach of high pressure from the west.  This will give us a good chance to view the full moon.  Those clear skies will also lead to a frigid night.  Bright sunshine will cap off the weekend, with light winds.  It’ll be a great winter day Sunday.

We’ve got a warmup headed our way, if only for a couple of days.  As that warmth presses our way, some light snow or a wintry mix is likely Monday.  Showers will be the rule by Tuesday, as temperatures warm into the 40s.
