Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – After years of planning and construction, the ribbon was cut Monday at St. Joseph’s Hospital’s new surgical suite.
The facility includes 15 operating rooms – two more than are currently available at the hospital.
Each operating room is also twice the size of the existing operating rooms.
Hospital officials believe the new facility will help meet the needs of patients and attract top physicians.
“To have a facility that is so first class, so state of the art, I think people would love to practice in a place like this,” said Dr. Syed Zaman, the chair of the department of surgery and vascular surgeon.
St. Joseph’s opened its new emergency room last year.
