Standoff on Syracuse's East Side over; Scranton homicide suspect in custody
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - A man wanted on charges stemming from a homicide in Scranton, Pa., is in custody after a SWAT team deployed in a neighborhood on Syracuse's East Side on Tuesday evening.
Police say someone observed 18-year-old Ryan Harding on Tuesday evening on the 2000 block of East Fayette Street.
When he saw officers, police say the suspect ran into a nearby apartment building.
Police say they had a good reason to believe Harding was armed and they determined to lock down the neighborhood.
They say Harding surrendered without firing a shot after police entered the building he was hiding in around 9:30 p.m.
Harding is now in the custody of US Marshals.
