Still Unsettled This Afternoon
Rain continues along a stalled frontal system this midday. Waves of rain have been tracking northeast along this front. By early this afternoon the last in these series of steady rain will start to shift into eastern New York. Some sun is likely to develop during this afternoon as the rain pulls out. The sun will help warm temperatures into the 70s, which in turn may help fuel hit-or-miss showers and thunderstorms from mid to late afternoon.
A cold front is forecast to move from the Great Lakes region today and through Central New York tomorrow. This will likely trigger additional scattered showers and thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon.
Cooler and drier air will filter into the region behind the front for Thursday with a warming trend likely for Friday and into the weekend. In fact, high temperatures this weekend should approach and even exceed 80!
