Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- The Orange will be donning specially designed uniforms Wednesday night as they face off against South Florida (USF).
Syracuse is one of nine programs Nike selected to wear the new hyper elite platinum uniform this season. The traditional white worn at home games will be replaced by gray with orange highlights. And variations of the design are being sold to Orange fans on SU Hill. Manny’s has had jerseys, jackets, hats and shorts in stock for about a week and they’ve already sold out of some. Manager Bill Nester says it all comes down to one thing.
“If the team wears it, everyone wears it…no matter what the price is,” Nester said.
If you’re interested in the uniforms, you’ll pay a pretty penny. The limited edition jacket will cost you $144. The jersey is $120. The shorts are $80 and you’ll be shelling out $30 for the hat.
This isn’t the first time the Orange has changed up their uniforms. In 1988, SU wore blue uniforms at Kentucky. Then, in 2008, they tried out blue again when playing Notre Dame.
They lost both of those games, so let’s hope it won’t be the curse of the new uniforms on Wednesday against South Florida.
