Chittenango (WSYR-TV) – Police have charged a Chittenango teen accused of telling friends that he thought it would be “funny” to bring a gun to school and that he planned on shooting people.

Less than one week ago, a 20-year-old man shot and killed 26 people in a Connecticut school, including 20 students.

Police charged the 16-year-old male with falsely reporting an incident in the third degree, a misdemeanor.

He was arraigned in Village of Chittenango Court and placed on supervised release with the Madison County Probation Department.

The teen has been barred from returning to school property or participating in school events.

He is set to return to village court at a later date.
